brankley

David Brankley

Studied art at Brigham Young University,1975-1978, with emphasis on figure drawing and painting.
A dedicated traveler for many years, in 1984 I took the plunge, and went full time.Over the decades I have circumnavigated the globe by bicycle, and kayak (using other transportation when necessary).Selling paintings, and picking up portrait commissions along the way, my sole means of support.

Recently I've begun slowing down, spending more and more time in Telluride.I love painting here, never running out of subjects to paint or inspiration.

John Clark

John is a self-employed glass worker/Macintosh computer consultant who has lived in Ridgway since 1982. Having started with the more traditional art of leaded glass in 1980 (and operated Alpine Art Glass since 1985) his emphasis has evolved to now focus on three-dimensional fused glass pieces, a variety of unique lighting fixtures, and lastly (if there’s any time left!), the occasional leaded glass panel . John’s major design influences are: geometric patterns of all kinds, from ancient mosaic tiles to Amish quilt patterns, including a deep appreciation of the “Prairie Style” designs of Frank Lloyd Wright.

John, under the nickname of The Mac Doctor, has been working with Macintosh computers since 1993, and doing part-time computer-consulting since the start of the new millennium. Discovering the Macintosh computer not only allowed him an incredible new level of flexibility in designing his glasswork, it also enabled him to tap into an alternate realm that involves much of the same attention to detail and  technical awareness that first attracted him to the glass medium. Curiously, he’s found that work in both disciplines often leads to similar experiences of an almost alchemical nature.

I am not greedy.  I do not seek to possess the major portion of your day.  I am content if, on those rare occasions, whose truth can only be stated by poetry, you will recall an image - even only the aura of my hand-printed B&W Photography.  And what more can I possibly ask as an artist than that your most precious dreams - however rare - assume, sometimes, the forms of my images...EE

Michele Foote

Though Michele Foote minored in ceramics at Boston College, she is indebted to Ah Haa for introducing her to textile dyeing through instructor-friends Kathy Green and Wendy Kowynia.  Velvet and silk are Michele’s current focus; they produce strong color and beg to be touched. Michele’s pieces can be found at Telluride’s The Art of Being and Why Ever Not in Mystic, CT

weatherford

Robert Weatherford

Eventually this wild child settled in Telluride, Colorado, where he later served on the town council. Further wanderings included studying at the Art Students League and earning a Masters Degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York. This course of study culminated in two exhibitions he designed and installed: Rouault’s fifty-eight-piece Miserere, followed by a show of his own paintings executed during seminary.

These experiences led to study at Claremont Graduate Art School in Claremont, California. It was while there that a compelling need for narrative took root. In his words: “I felt that I must seek to tell a story. Convey a particular thought. Feelings alone were no longer adequate.”

He has been with the Galleria Beretich for shows throughout the last nine years. His work has also been shown in galleries in Washington D.C., Scottsdale, and Telluride. Additionally, he was commissioned by the Sierra Club Books to create seventeen paintings for a children's book entitled Desert Dog, released in Fall 2001.

Weatherford now resides in Telluride, painting and tending his garden
