This is a basic digital field photography class for beginning to intermediate photographers. Meeting both in the classroom and in the field, students will learn the functions, modes and physics of digital cameras to improve their photography skills. The class will cover composition, lighting, aperture, shutter, and lenses, as well as image files and filters. An evening session and an afternoon session provide ideal lighting opportunities with free time for shooting in between. During the one-hour classroom sessions, students will edit images and critique work. The remaining two hours of each class will be spent shooting in the field. Students should come to class with three questions to help individualize their learning.
Students must have a digital SLR camera.
Come master the art and science of landscape photography this fall in Colorado’s spectacular San Juan Mountains. This workshop will combine ample field time, including one sunset and two sunrise shoots, with intensive classroom instruction. This seminar will touch on many essential elements of good landscape photography, such as scouting, lighting, composition, and atmospheric optics. Participants should bring in a small sampling of their work for one-on-one critique sessions with the instructor. This workshop is appropriate for low-intermediate to advanced-intermediate photographers.
Lodging packages are available! To inquire about lodging or get more information about the class, please contact Kathleen Cole at 970.728.3886 or email@example.com. This workshop is part of our Visiting Artist program, therefore all cancellations must be made at least 45 days in advance.
Participants should bring a small sampling of their previous work for one-on-one critique sessions with the instructor. Bring digital SLR cameras and instruction manual. If you own a laptop, please bring it, along with a card reader or appropriate cable to download your images. Please be sure your laptop is loaded with appropriate image-editing software. Many meals will be eaten in the field, so bring picnic supplies.
