Watercolor Portraiture of Animals and People
Tuesday – Thursday | 9:00am – 4:00pm | $530
June 19 – 21, 2018
(Students must bring required materials on their own.)
Known for her delicate portraiture work and one-on-one teaching methods, celebrated artist Kim Johnson will lead a three-day intensive watercolor workshop focusing on human and animal portraiture. With a concentration on how to bring life into their subject matter, students will learn how to apply paint with correct values, leave lost and found edges for interest and movement, and integrate the foreground with the background to make cohesive compositions. Kim will teach students how to leverage their contour drawings as a guide (not a border) in order to build form with glazes and washes. The aim is to gain confidence, upgrade skills, and develop a more analytical approach to painting portraits.
It is recommended that students have some previous watercolor and drawing experience.
This is a Visiting Artist class, therefore cancellations must be made at least 45 days in advance in order to qualify for a refund (less a $25 administrative fee).
