Tuesday – Sunday | Times vary | $380
January 4 – 9, 2022
Class times: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 5pm – 9pm and Friday – Sunday, 12pm – 6pm.
Discover the magical, colorful world of silk dyeing and batik. Spend three evenings (with optional open studio time on Friday & Saturday) learning about color, surface design, silk painting, wax resist, shibori, and other silk dyeing techniques, culminating in a final prayer flags project. Dyes used during class work on silk, wool and fabric blends that contain silk and wool. A week or two after the class ends, a separate dye-setting session will take place. (Note: dry cleaning is required to remove the wax; plan on $11per piece) The materials fee should cover about seven scarves/fabric pieces of the students choice, with the option of purchasing more fabric from the instructor. This class is limited to six students. Students should bring a notebook and pen/pencil to take notes, do sketches, etc. wear old clothes including old shoes. A follow up time to dye set will occur about two weeks after the class and dry cleaning is complete.
Given the changing nature of the Delta variant of the Coronavirus, we are now requiring everyone who participates in an Ah Haa class be vaccinated and upload a copy of their vaccination card at the time of registration. Further, masks should be worn in public spaces within the building. Thank you for helping us keep everyone healthy!
