Explore the colorful world of painting on silk.
For four weeks, indulge yourself in the magical world of batik on silk. Focusing first on making a set of prayer flags, students will learn about color, surface design, silk painting, wax resist, shibori, and more using dyes that are appropriate for silk and wool, as well as fabric blends that contain silk and wool. Classes meet two evenings a week and during optional open studio sessions with the instructor on weekends. All pieces will be dry cleaned to remove wax (please budget an additional $8 per piece for dry cleaning) and then dye set. The course materials fee includes seven fabric pieces. Kathy will have lots of extra scarves and fabric on hand for students to purchase separately.
PLEASE NOTE: Class is at the Stone Building. Limited to six students, this course is geared toward those with previous fabric dyeing experience. Open Studio work times are available most Fridays (1-5 p.m.) and Saturdays (12-5 p.m.)
