SORRY, THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
Whether you’re a graphic designer looking to expand your practice, a visual artist interested in deepening your skills, or a novice doodler with a penchant for drawing, illustration is a fantastic (and fun) way to learn how to develop narrative in your creative practice. In this two-day workshop, students will explore how to create a pictorial complement to a text or idea. They will have the option to play with one of several exercises: create a cover for “The New Yorker” magazine, illustrate a favorite poem, or students can bring their own project. The class will learn how to design thumbnail sketches, layout artwork in conjunction with text, use overlays for composition studies, size their art to fit, and explore execution styles. Participants will come away with tools and concepts to help them think (and create) like illustrators.
All materials provided, open to all levels of experience!
