Starting & Expanding Your Technical Skills
Tuesday – Thursday | 10:00am – 4:00pm | $425
August 14 – 16, 2018
(Most, but not all materials are included. Students must purchase some required materials on their own.)
This workshop is for students who are new to encaustic and for those who want to expand their technical skills and explore more possibilities.
The hot wax layering process of encaustic painting produces luminous surfaces and textures. After learning proper surface preparation and safety measures, participants in this three-day workshop will experience the process of applying layers of transparent colors, imprinting and casting with leaves, doing image transfers, and working with stencils and textures. Step-by-step demonstrations will be followed by focused time to work and improvise throughout the day. Students should emerge with a good range of technical skills and the confidence to create encaustic paintings on their own.
Although Lynda works in a nonrepresentational style, she finds encaustic to be a versatile medium for all types of artists. Understanding the properties of encaustic is the first step to incorporating it into your own work. Wherever you are with your art, Lynda will take you to the next level with positive and critical dialogue.
This is a Visiting Artist class, therefore cancellations must be made at least 45 days in advance in order to qualify for a refund (less a $25 administrative fee).
