The qualities that make encaustic a captivating material also create technical and compositional challenges for painters. In this class, you will learn various mark making techniques and develop dynamic surfaces using encaustic paint, mixed media including R&F Pigment Sticks. Lisa encourages students to employ application alternatives to strengthen your unique visual language. The workshop will emphasize the importance of compositional elements such as point, line, weight, and space. Learn to control a surface, hone torch fusing skills, understand palette organization, and embrace compositional awareness. With an emphasis on building surfaces, Lisa will guide students using a palette that combines opaque and translucent colors adding visual depth to the finished work. Students will be challenged with exercises that keep you moving around your panels and encourages a steady workflow.
