INDEPENDENT STUDIO FOR EMERGING ARTISTS: Portfolio to Exhibition
Thursdays | 4:00 – 6:00pm | $175
February 14 – March 28, 2019
Develop your artistic voice in your medium of choice in this seven-week mentorship program.
This seven-week independent studio course will give students some time and space to explore new techniques and hone their skills. Students interested in painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, ceramics, or any other creative field will have the opportunity to try new mediums and grow their portfolios. Throughout the seven-week session, Ah Haa will provide equipment, materials and studio space, as well as expertise from a rotating group of local art professionals.
Students will meet as a class on Thursdays, which will be dedicated to reviewing their goals, working on projects and doing an end-of-class critique. Fridays will be a dedicated (optional) open studio day, but students may also use the studio any other day of the week on a space-available basis (M-F, 3-6 p.m.). During the final class session, students will work together to curate and install a student art show in Ah Haa’s East Room Gallery. The show will be on display for two weeks, with an opening reception on March 28th at 5 p.m.
Students may purchase materials from Ah Haa as needed. Class meets Thursdays with dedicated Open Studio time on Fridays. Students are welcome to use Ah Haa’s studios on other days of the week depending on space availability.
Participants are expected to:
- Make progress on at least one piece of artwork each week for the group critique;
- Attend the final class session and help install the show;
- Be available for a group Artist Talk during opening week of the show.
