An exploration of color, transparency, and approach in encaustic work.
Artists Shawna Moore and Ellen Koment have a teaching partnership that has evolved from student and teacher to friendship and collaboration. Both are exceptional encaustic artists, and both approach the process in different ways. In this workshop, students will have the rare opportunity to experience two different approaches to encaustic painting from two celebrated artists. Shawna works with very thin layers, transparent colors and the juxtaposition of line and color. Ellen overlays more varied colors, often poured, and juxtaposes them with a different kind of line. Students in this workshop will learn both instructors’ techniques, color theories, practices and inventive processes while also developing their own unique approach to working in encaustic.
This is a Visiting Artist class, therefore cancellations must be made at least 45 days in advance in order to qualify for a refund (less a $25 administrative fee).
