UNPLUGGED IMAGE CAPTURING WITH THE COMICS CONSORTIUM
Monday – Wednesday | 1:30 – 4:30pm | $195
August 6 – 8, 2018
Bookmaking, sketching and writing for ultimate, spontaneous creativity.
Visiting artists Walker Mettling and Julia Gualtieri of the Providence Comics Consortium host a completely unplugged workshop that poses the following question: What if we use a room full of people like a copy machine and a sketchbook like a Smartphone? The mission of this class is for all participants to ignite their creative juices as they learn how to make a sketchbook by hand using professional bookbinding techniques and then fill it with inspiring sketches, quirky comics, creative ah haas, and anything else. The class will adventure through a variety of writing and drawing exercises, games, and open-ended assignments, all while exploring the town of Telluride and its surrounding natural environment so that the class can draw inspiration from the world around us. Participants will leave this experience with some bookbinding techniques, new ways to generate ideas, and a ton of tricks for creatively documenting time and place for future use.
