Derek Chan (b.1981) is a Santa Fe based artist working primarily in painting. He received his BA from UCLA, in 2004, and later his MFA from the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 2007. In 2012, he was selected to participate in the Roswell-Artist-In-Residence program. It was during his time in residence that paper marbling became an integral part of his art practice. He has exhibited in solo, group and collaborative exhibitions in Santa Fe, NM, Chicago, IL, and New York, NY. He has previously taught paper marbling workshops at the Roswell Museum and Art Center, Artisan (Santa Fe) and Center for Contemporary Art (Santa Fe).
