Ah Haa School for the Arts

Kathy Green

Silk Dying / Fiber Arts

Kathy Green began silk dyeing in 1990 during one of Ah Haa’s very first classes. That class, taught by Rita Bernstein, left an indelible mark on her. Kathy’s keen interest and talent for silk dyeing led her to become an instructor, and in turn, she has inspired many of the area’s silk-dying obsessed. Scarves and silk prayer flags created by Kathy and her students can be found in local galleries, shops, and bazaars.

Kathy Green is a superb instructor, encouraging you to try something new, while at the same time instructing you on the complexities of color and design – making suggestions to improve on your ideas. I never stop learning.

I have seen continuous progress in my work – in color and design – and owe Kathy a great deal of credit for my skills.

I particularly enjoyed the interaction with the other students and the instructor…the encouragement and exchange of ideas that occurs in a class setting. Kathy is soooo generous with her time, and puts in a lot of extra work to make the class happen.
