Sarah B. Hansen
Award-winning Northwest Watercolor Society Signature member, artist, and instructor Sarah B. Hansen, has been painting for more than 25 years. She is a self-taught painter, who practiced traditional transparent watercolor on paper, concentrating on expression-filled portraits for 20 years. Having gone through a trial-and-error method of teaching herself a unique abstract landscape painting method, she is excited to share that knowledge and help others embrace the freedom of abstractionism. Born and raised in Southwestern Colorado, she moved to Oregon in 1987 and finished her degree in Interior Design, working as a commercial and residential designer in Portland. While raising a family of three boys, she taught herself to paint light-filled watercolor paintings. She has won awards for her portraiture and gained signature status through NWWS. Her work can be found at Tumalo Art Company, Hood Avenue Art, Laura Vincent Designs, and Studio Art Direct in Portland, as well as in medical and hospitality facilities. She teaches workshops regionally and abroad.
