Tricia Gourley discovered her love of natural dyeing and textiles while attending Fort Lewis College, where she received a Bachelors Degree in the Arts. She deepened her skills of surface design and working with natural dyes at the Haystack Mountain School of Craft, in an intensive with textile artist Elin Noble. She has expanded her understanding of indigo dyeing in workshops with textile artists Gasali Adeyemo and Akemi Nakano Cohn.
She lives and works in Durango, Colorado and maintains a natural dye studio where she makes wearable art and textiles for her small business Colors of the Earth. Collecting local plants to dye with brings her great joy. Tricia is completely enamored by the color palate that the earth offers through leaves, roots, flowers and yes, even insects.
