Rebecca Barfoot Exhibition

Falling North: Love letters and Last places • Sculpture & Mixed Media

East Gallery  •  Opening reception during ArtWalk on Thursday, February 5 from 5-8pm.

The sculpture and mixed media paintings in Falling North celebrate wild and remote lands while narrating a search for refuge in a broken world.  Rebecca’s travels on Arctic ice and through northern forest and tundra have inspired thoughtful work that weaves an intimate story of earth, underscoring connection and relationships over distance.  Falling North is a journey into the heart of inner/outer landscape and the truth revealed in their reflection.

About the artist:  Rebecca Barfoot is a multi-media studio artist with a serious crush on the Far North.  Her professional projects explore the confluence of creativity and education, environment and healing.  Equal parts backcountry enthusiast, naturalist and wilderness advocate, Rebecca traveled to Arctic Greenland recently for an art expedition related to climate, culture, and changing landscapes.  In 2014 she spent five months in Canada’s Yukon Territory as a resident artist at the Klondike Institute of Art as well as at the subarctic Tombstone Territorial Park where she worked on public arts/ecology programming.  She is based in Durango, Colorado but calls the north home.
