The Ah Haa School is working to bring the fine art of bookmaking to all by offering basic courses and expanding it’s offerings to include writing and all aspects of book arts. Below are a selection of beginner and more expressive courses.
Founded in 1993 by Tini Miura, Einen Miura and Daniel Tucker, the American Academy of Bookbinding is an internationally known degree-oriented bookbinding and book conservation school that offers book enthusiasts of all levels the opportunity to initiate and improve their skills in a generous and supportive learning environment. The Academy conducts intensive courses in the fine art of leather binding, conservation and related subjects. The goal of the Academy is to graduate professional-level binders and book conservators who have the knowledge and skills to produce the highest quality work and the ability to pass on these skills to the next generation. The Academy is unique in the United States in its ability to offer a comprehensive diploma granting program in the study of bookbinding and book conservation, taught by some of the most experienced and highly regarded book artists and conservators in the world. Photo Album Workshop

You have great photos from your trip to Asia. Wouldn’t it make your trip special to put the photos in an album you made? And use Japanese paper? What about your wedding photos? Don’t they deserve a special album? In this two-day workshop, you will make a photo album for precious memories. You will leave class with an understanding of basic bookbinding techniques and concepts so that you can make photo albums on your own.

Do you yearn for a touch of the past in your technological life? Do you love the look and feel of an old book even though you may no longer have a use for it? This is the class for you. Give your kindle or tablet a traditional, old book look! Give that old, dusty book new life! In this one-day class you will create your own custom cover utilizing materials from the past to transform your modern device into a lovely work of art.
