
The Ah Haa is in the midst of one of our most significant years, thanks to the school’s purchase of the Depot, creative and inspiring classes, energetic faculty and instructors, and our loyal supporters, without whom none of this would be possible. When the Depot remodeling was completed this past May, our facility is fully code compliant and the Daniel Tucker Gallery is open and ready to share with all of you. With a new front entrance and reception area, as well as new administrative offices, our talented and motivated staff is better equipped to service the needs of the school and the community.
We have been raising funds to pay for the building and renovations, and to support the school’s annual fund. To date, the Ah Haa has raised $1,773,865 in capital and annual fund gifts towards our initial goal of $2,500,000. The funds for this project have been donated by our loyal supporters (thank you very much!), the Board of Directors, and through a $100,000 Initiative Grant from the Telluride Foundation. We have been in a “quiet” fundraising phase, which means many people are unaware of the school’s comprehensive fundraising efforts. With the reopening of our space, the Star Campaign has entered a more “public” phase. We are extremely pleased with our success during the quiet phase of the Star Campaign, but we still have $750,000 to pay on the purchase price of the Depot and need to raise funds to underwrite the school’s annual budget to renovate the kitchen (to get the cooking school off the ground), children’s art studio and ceramics studio. We also want to replenish and build an endowment.
