June 1 - August 22, 2012
Application deadline: March 23, 2012

Summer interns are an important part of the team at the Ah Haa School for the Arts and are responsible for assisting with the marketing, graphics, facilities, and classes. Interns will have direct contact with students over a twelve-week period, running from June 1 through August 22 with one week off. Interns will gain specific skills and experience in preparation and instruction of art education, fundraising and non-profit operations. Aside from the work experience, interns will have the opportunity to spend a concentrated period of their time at the Ah Haa School pursuing their personal study in art. Staff will be working directly with each intern to enhance the learning experience. All interns are expected to stay for the entire session.
ART INTERNS
Classroom Interns will gain hands on experience assisting with our kids summer art program that includes a variety of art classes that will be held in four-day sessions, as well as one day-long Friday classes. Classes will include ceramics, painting, drawing, paper-making, jewelry, and numerous other inspiring classes. Interns may also have the opportunity to assist in Adult Artists classes. Art Education majors are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
Our Ceramics Intern will work in close association with the Ceramic Studio Manager and will report to the Curriculum Director. Ah Haa will rely heavily on your ceramics knowledge to keep our studio flowing, including shipping out finished pieces. Studio time will be available to work on your own art as well.
Our Photography & Video Intern will have creative freedom to visually document the summer experience at Ah Haa for use in our print and online marketing. Using photography and video you will take the lead in capturing a photojournalistic view of the Ah Haa summer camps, adult workshops and all our special events.
BUSINESS INTERN
The Sales & Marketing Internship is designed to give an insight into non-profit marketing. In addition to learning marketing practices you will learn how to plan and execute a large art auction event that raises funds that sustain our school throughout the year. The not for profit administration intern will assist our registrar and office staff with the daily functions, as well as long term planning of a successful not for profit.
