CELEBRATING THE FEMALE SPIRIT THROUGH THE ARTS
The Ah Haa School for the Arts is proud to salute women in the arts throughout the month of October. In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Prevention Month, the Ah Haa offers a month full of workshops, activities, events and special exhibits with a specific focus on women. An exhibition by a female artist celebrates their talent and vision. We host LUNAFEST, a traveling film festival of award-winning short films by, for and about women. A program of nine films - filled with stories of reflection, hope and humor - will travel to over 150 cities and screen in front of 20,000 people. Each year, various organizations bring LUNAFESTs to their communities and raise funds for their local non-profits as well as our main beneficiary - Breast Cancer Fund. The month is topped off with the BRAvo Auction featuring community designed bras modeled by local firefighters, policemen and service club gentlemen in both a live and silent auction. Partial proceeds benefit our local San Miguel Resource Center, a domestic violence and sexual assault crisis center.

This season’s program of nine selected films will compel discussion, make you laugh, tug at your heartstrings and motivate you to make a difference in your community. Incredibly diverse in style and content, LUNAFEST is united by a common thread of exceptional storytelling - by, for and about women.
