Within the mission of the Ah Haa School, we seek to provide opportunities to artists of all ages and backgrounds to grow as artists, work in collaboration and show and sell artwork. We have two indoor exhibition spaces, the Daniel Tucker Gallery and East Room Gallery, as well as a large deck on the river that is prime for exhibiting outdoor sculpture. Ah Haa’s galleries display the works of both developing and established artists, local artists and inspiring artists outside of our community.
Silent Auction Art Exhibition
An art show featuring all of the artwork for the silent auction will open at the school’s gallery on July 5th. There is no charge and guests will be able to preview many of the auction items as well as place silent and absentee bids. Proceeds from the auction are critical to funding scholarships, adult and youth programs, supplies, equipment and instructors.
Dieter Runge | fear nothing
One Hundred x 12” woodblock prints
During the past six months, Dieter Runge has produced several hundred woodblock prints using a small press at his studio on Oahu, where he lives. This show is a selection of 100 images inspired by nature, rock’n roll, yoga, and everything else that touches Dieter. The process varies from intuitive to highly conceptual, referencing the tradition of the 12” vinyl album cover as well as nods to movements in the history of art. These prints are as delightful as they are surprising and accompany Dieter’s Creative Woodblock Printing workshop on July 6 - 8.
Brooke Ahana Bailey | Field Work: An Excavation
Inspired by years of finding and collecting, drawn to the ordinary and the absurd, giving new definition to old belongings. These are all concerns I am addressing in evoking a new story from old belongings and discarded treasures. This idea that we live in a throw-away society is one that I have fixated on for many years and in these small, intimate creations the idea is that we take a moment to reflect and discover our own unique story. I wanted to make art that is not merely representative of myself, but lets the viewer wonder and delight in their own imagination. Much like my experience with teaching, where the instructor and student both have potential for such a profound experience.
