Experiment with combining scrap silver and copper into alloys of Shibuichi and Shakudo. Form these materials into pendant forms known as spiculums. They are hand fabricated by forming a sheet of silver into a hollow, tapered spear shape. It has a soft twist, giving it a sense of movement. Learn to patina metal as well in this hands-on class.

Students make sculptures developed from quick sketches, working to create three-dimensional welded pieces of metal. We’ll be utilizing various modes of production, forging, welding, detailing and refining. Class demonstrations followed by ample work time with assistance will allow for a great learning atmosphere.
