Plex Plate Intaglio Printmaking
February 18 & 19 | two days
Friday & Saturday | 10am - 3pm
Tuition: $175

Plex plate Intaglio, or Drypoint, is a traditional Intaglio printmaking process that does not use any acid, solvents or processing. The plates are made by scratching, gouging or carving an image into a thin, soft plexiglass plate called polycarbonate. Students will learn how to create, ink up and print a hand-made plate onto paper in perfect registration. These plates are thin and see-through, so photographic images, drawings, abstract images, shapes, textures, collage or anything you desire can be used as a resource. Students will also learn how to build a color image through multiple plate layering, monoprinting, and more. Students are asked to bring images or photographs that inspire them.
